1. ऐसो को उदार जग माहीं।
बिनु सेवा जो द्रवै दीन पर राम सरिस कोउ नाहीं॥
जो गति जोग बिराग जतन करि नहिं पावत मुनि ग्यानी।
सो गीत देत गीध सबरी कहँ प्रभु न बहुत जिय जानी॥
जो संपति दस सीस अरस करि रावन सिव पहँ लीन्हीं।
लो संपदा बिभीषन कहँ अति सकुच-सहित हरि दीन्हीं॥
तुलसिदास सब भाँति सकल सुख जो चाहसि मन मेरो।
तौ भजु राम, काम सब पूरन करैं कृपिनिधि तेरो॥
अर्थ- प्रस्तुत पद में गोस्वामी तुलसीदास जी ने भगवान की दयालुता का वर्णन किया है। तुलसीदास जी कहते हैं कि संसार में एसा कौन उदार हृदय का है, जो किसी प्रकार की सेवा के बिना ही दीन- दुखियों पर द्रवित हो जाता हो ? ऐसे एक श्रीरामचन्द्रजी ही है, उनके समान कोई दूसरा नहीं। बड़े-बड़े ज्ञानी मुनि योग, वैराग्य आदि अनेक साधन करके भी जिस परमगति को नहीं पाते, वह गति प्रभु रघुनाथजी ने जटायु जैसे सामान्य गिद्ध और सामान्य स्त्री शबरी तक को दे दी और उसको उन्होंने अपने मन में बहुत बड़ा उपकार नहीं समझा । जिस अपार सम्पत्ति को रावण ने शिवजी को अपने दसों सिर चढ़ाकर प्राप्त किया था; वही सम्पत्ति श्रीरामाजी ने बड़े संकोच के साथ विभीषण को दे डाली। जैसे कुछ दे ही न रहे हो। तुलसीदास जी मन को सम्बोधित करते हुए कहते हैं कि अरे मेरे, मन, यदि तू सबै तरह से सब सुख चाहता है, तो श्रीरामजी का भजन कर, वे दया के सागर हैं। कृपानिधान प्रभु तेरी सारी मनोकामनाएं पूरी कर देंगे। वही तेरा कल्याण करेंगे।
Meaning- In this verse, Goswami Tulsidas Ji describes the compassion of the Lord. Tulsidas Ji says, who else in this world has such a generous heart that melts for the poor and distressed without any service in return? Only Shri Ramachandra Ji is like this, and there is no one else like Him. Great sages and scholars do not attain the ultimate state even after practicing numerous spiritual disciplines like yoga and renunciation. Yet, Lord Raghunath granted that supreme state to even an ordinary vulture like Jatayu and a common woman like Shabari without considering it a great favor. The immense wealth that Ravana attained by offering his ten heads to Lord Shiva was given to Vibhishana by Shri Rama with great reluctance, as if he were giving nothing at all. Addressing his mind, Tulsidas Ji says, “Oh my mind, if you desire all kinds of happiness, then worship Shri Rama. He is an ocean of compassion. The gracious Lord will fulfil all your desires and will ensure your welfare.”
2. जाके प्रिय न राम-बदैही।
तजिये ताहि कोटि बैरी सम, जद्यपि परम सनेही॥
तज्यो पिता प्रहलाद, बिभीषन बंधु, भरत महतारी।
बलि गुरु तज्यो कंत ब्रज-बनितन्हि, भये मुद-मंगलकारी॥
नाते नेह राम के मनियत सुहृद सुसेब्य कहौं कहाँ लौं।
अंजन कहा आँखि जेहि फूटै, बहुतक कहौं कहाँ लौं॥
तुलसी सो सब भाँति परम हित पूज्य प्रानते प्यारो।
जासों होय सनेह राम-पद, एतो मतो हमारो॥
अर्थ-तुलसीदास जी कहते हैं जिसे श्रीराम-जानकीजी प्यारे नहीं, उसे करोड़ो शत्रुओं के समान छोड़ देना चाहिए, चाहे वह अपना अत्यन्त प्यारा क्यों न हो। अपनी बात की पुष्टि के लिए तुलसीदासजी ने अनेक उदाहरण दिए है। कवि कहते हैं प्रह्लाद ने अपने पिता हिरण्यकशिपु को, विभीषण ने अपने भाई रावण को, भरतजी ने अपनी माता कैकई को, राजा बलि ने अपने गुरु शुक्राचार्य को और ब्रज की गोपियों ने अपने-अपने पतियों को भगवतप्राप्ति में बाधक समझकर त्याग दिया, परन्तु ये सभी आनन्द और कल्याण करनेवाले हुए। जितने भी सुहृद और अच्छी तरह पूजने योग्य लोग हैं, वे सभी श्रीरघुनाथजी के ही सम्बन्ध और प्रेम से माने जाते हैं। तुलसीदासजी कहते है कि, बस अब अधिक क्या कहूँ, जिस काजल के लगाने से आँखे ही फूट जाए, वह काजल किस काम का? तुलसीदास जी कहते है कि उनका यह मत है कि जिसके कारण (जिसके संग या उपदेश से) श्रीरामचन्द्रजी के चरणों में प्रेम हो वही सब प्रकार से अपना परम हितकारी, पूजनीय, और प्राणों से भी अधिक प्यारा है।
Meaning-Tulsidas Ji emphasizes that anyone who does not hold Shri Ram and Janaki Ji dear should be abandoned, no matter how close or beloved they may seem, just as one would abandon a million enemies. To illustrate this point, Tulsidas Ji provides several examples. He mentions that Prahlad abandoned his father, Hiranyakashipu; Vibhishan abandoned his brother, Ravana; Bharat Ji abandoned his mother, Kaikeyi; King Bali abandoned his guru, Shukracharya; and the Gopis of Braj (milkmaids of Braj) abandoned their husbands, all perceiving them as obstacles to attaining God. Despite these actions, they all attained joy and well-being.
Tulsidas Ji further explains that those who are cherished and considered worthy of reverence are valued only because of their connection and love for Shri Raghunath Ji. He adds that there is no use for Kajal (kohl or eyeliner) that blinds the eyes. He concludes by stating that anyone who inspires love for Shri Ramachandra Ji’s feet, in any way, is the most beneficial, worthy of worship, and dearer than life itself.
